All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk on a winter's day
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A.
California dreamin' on such a winter's day

Stopped into a church I passed along the way
Well, I got down on my knees and I pretend to pray
You know the preacher liked the cold, he knows I'm gonna stay
California dreamin'... on such a winter's day

All the leaves are brown (all the leaves are brown)
And the sky is grey (and the sky is grey)
I've been for a walk (I've been for a walk)
On a winter's day (on a winter's day)
If I didn't tell her (if I didn't tell her)
I could leave today (I could prob'bly leave today)

California dreamin' (California)
On such a winter's day (California dreamin')
On such a winter's day (Am I really dreamin'?)
On such a winter's day (California dreamin')

ABOUT THE SONG
Anyone who was alive in the 60's will certainly be familiar with the original, legendary version by The Mamas and Papas.

It first touched my life
when I joined a 5-piece a capella group for a high school show.
We sang California Dreamin'.

I don't know why I started playing this arrangement on the piano,
but I usually honor my 'inner musician' and at least try what I'm feeling.
I was thrilled with the result.

I had initially imagined this song sung by a vocal group ... such as Take 6. Singer and long-time friend Rob Trow agreed to do the 'demo' vocals, and
(as it so often goes with the monster talents I know)
I knew darned well that he would make it his own.
Once he started singing, I never thought of the group concept again.

I have an amazing music video concept for this song.
I've done a demo (thank you Eric Freeman)
and hope to do a pro version very soon.

What amazing guitar work by Tim Pierce!
